Since 1981, Allegiance has earned a reputation for excellent service in the Employee Benefits industry. As a third-party administrator of self-funded health plans, we are dedicated to taking care of our clients and their half-million plan members whom we serve.
Originally founded in 1981 as Intermountain Administrators, the company's growth, expansion of services, and strategic direction led us to change our name to Allegiance Benefit Plan Management, Inc., on April 1, 2003. Changing our name was a way to put our service philosophy front and center. Our name, Allegiance, is a public statement that we are here to benefit you.
Our corporate spirit has always been one of allegiance to the companies we serve. Our people are deeply committed to our clients and to plan participants. We share your goals and work hard to help you control benefit costs through self-funding.
Our genuine purpose is to help people live better lives. We feel a great sense of responsibility not only to our clients and members, but also to our fellow employees. While Allegiance's goal is to provide clients with the highest level of service, we know ultimately that the products and services we administer serve the needs of individuals and their families. In all we do, we realize that ours is indeed a business built for benefiting people.
In 2008, Allegiance became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, itself a subsidiary of Cigna Corporation. Allegiance and all of its affiliated companies are considered subsidiaries of Cigna under this arrangement. Cigna leverages Allegiance’s long-standing leadership in the Self-Funded benefits industry to deliver premier third-party administration (TPA) services to clients of all sizes across the country. As a result, Allegiance has seen exceptional growth since the start of this affiliation.
At Allegiance Benefit Plan Management, Inc. (ABPM) and The Cigna GroupSM (Cigna), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is a business priority. We believe DEI and a culture of belonging must be embraced, embedded, and championed in order to be effective across our company – and in doing so, we grow stronger in our ability to positively impact the people and communities we serve.
We have zero tolerance for racism of any kind by anyone and toward anyone. Racism is absolutely unacceptable at ABPM and Cigna and in our society. It goes against everything we stand for as a responsible global organization and health service leader.
Investing in the health of our communities is critical to our mission. We promote full acceptance of differences and understanding of diversity. Investing in the health of our communities is critical to our mission. We are focused on pursuing health equity for all by eliminating unfair and unjust barriers in health care.
We believe in finding common ground to help create a better world. We’re committed to ensuring people feel comfortable being themselves at work. The more we understand each other and treat each other with dignity and respect, the stronger we will be.
